On Music Monday, May 2, 2022, along with our presenting partner the National Arts Centre and the Coalition for Music Education, Musicfest Canada celebrated music with our fellow Canadians from coast to coast. The concert began with 125 students from the Ellison Canadian Honour Choir, Denis Wick Canadian Wind Orchestra, Thomastik-Infeld Canadian String Orchestra, Woodshed Canadian Percussion Ensemble, York University National Youth Jazz Combo and the Conn-Selmer Centerstage Jazz Band performing the Prayer for Ukraine, a vocal and instrumental tribute to the people of Ukraine. The arrangement is by Dr. Mark Hopkins of Acadia University. The performance was introduced by Maestro Daniel Raiskin, Music Director of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.
