Kevin Hamlin

Recently retired as head of music at Collingwood Collegiate, Kevin Hamlin has been appointed to be Yamaha’s first Educator-in-Residence. Kevin’s near 30-year career highlighted some of the highest retention rates of most school music programs in Canada.

Arts Department Leader and Music Department Head at Collingwood Collegiate for 29 years, building one of the largest and most diverse programs in the province of Ontario.

Adjudicator, Clinician at MusicFest Canada Nationals and other Regional Festivals across the country.  In 2015 Kevin was Awarded Keith Mann Outstanding Band Director by MusicFest  Canada , along with Collingwood Arts Award. In 2016 He was awarded the Order of Collingwood.

Presenter at Ontario Music Educator’s Conference on a wide range of topics. Guest speaker at University B. Music programs, Faculties of Education, School Board workshops.

As an Effective communicator in front of audiences of any size, Kevin is Completely versed in all aspects of program development, class pedagogy, rehearsal techniques, and Festival preparation.

Chosen as Yamaha Music Canada’s first Educator-In-Residence, working across the country adjudicating band festivals, providing Board wide workshops, and individual school based clinics.
