Audition Procedure

MusicFest Canada will not normally accept applicants under the age of 15 as of May 1 in the year of the Festival.  Parents of applicants younger than 15 as of May 1st may be asked to make special arrangements for accommodations, travel and supervision.  MusicFest Canada is committed to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility. We strive to create an environment in which all people participating may flourish. We welcome auditions from all individuals, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, or economic status.

HOW TO AUDITION

• Record your VIDEO audition in a single take, if possible. See directions below.
• Click here to login and upload the recording to the musicfest.ca website on or before March 1, 2024.

AUDITION MATERIAL

1. Scale pattern – Sing a major scale pattern (or any warm-up style exercise) throughout your range, demonstrating the top and bottom limits of your vocal range.
2. Own choice – one or two pieces totaling not more than 5 minutes that will demonstrate your tone, intonation and musical interpretation.

THE RECORDING

Use recording equipment that will give a clear and accurate recording of your singing.

1. Begin by stating your name, voice part (Soprano, Alto Tenor or Bass) then your city and province of home residence.
2. Record the material in the order given above. Give the name and composer of your own choice selection(s).
3. Record the material in the order given above in a single take.

UPLOADING YOUR RECORDING

1. Visit the MusicFest Canada website at http://musicfest.ca
2. Select “Login” found on the top navigation bar
3. Enter your e-mail address and password.  If you do not have one, follow the directions to obtain one.
4. Complete and/or edit your Registration Form. Make sure you complete all fields
5. Click on the “Save” button. You can access this form any time and add or change information.

• Enregistrez votre audition VIDEO en un seul essai, autant que possible. Voire les instructions ci-dessous.
• Cliquez ici pour vous connecter et le téléchargement sur le site musicfest.ca doit être complété le ou avant le 22 de janvier 2024.

LES ELEMENTS DE L’AUDITION

• Motif de gamme – Chanter un motif basé sur une gamme majeure ou tout autre exercice de réchauffement de la voix, démontrant l’étendu maximal de votre registre.
• Au choix – Une ou deux pièce ne dépassant pas plus de 5 minutes et démontrant le timbre de votre voix ainsi que votre intonation et musicalité.

L’ENREGISTREMENT

• Utiliser de l’équipement d’enregistrement qui produira une trame sonore de votre interprétation vocale avec clarté et exactitude.
• Dire votre nom, registre de voix (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Basse), suivi de votre ville et province de résidence.
• Enregistrer tous les éléments de l’audition dans l’ordre décrit ci-haut et nommer le compositeur de votre (vos) pièces choisie(s).
• Enregistrer tout le matériel mentionné ci-haut, en un seul essai.

TELECHARGEMENT D’ENREGISTREMENT

• Visiter le site web MusicFest Canada (http://musicfest.ca)
• Cliquer sur « Login », situé sur la barre de navigation supérieure
• Inclure votre adresse de courriel et mot de passe.
• Compléter votre formulaire d’inscription. S’assurer de compléter toutes les sections.
• Cliquer sur le lien « Save ». Vous pouvez, en tout temps accéder à votre information pour y apporter des changements.
