Audition Procedure

NOTE:  MusicFest Canada will not normally accept applicants under the age of 15 as of May 1 in the year of the Festival.  Parents of applicants younger than 15 as of May 1st may be asked to make special arrangements for accommodations, travel and supervision.  MusicFest Canada is committed to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility. We welcome auditions from all individuals, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, or economic status.

HOW TO AUDITION

  • Prepare the audition material as outlined below
  • Record your audition in a single take, if possible. See directions below.
  • Click here to login and upload your VIDEO recording on or before February 22, 2026.

UPLOADING YOUR RECORDING

  1. Visit the MusicFest Canada website at http://musicfest.ca
  2. Select “Login” found on the top navigation bar
  3. Enter your e-mail address and password.  If you do not have one, follow the directions to obtain one.
  4. Complete and/or edit your Registration Form. Make sure you complete all fields
  5. Click on the “Save” button. You can access this form any time to add or change information.

AUDITION MATERIAL

Please record a video file (mp4 or another standard file format) and upload it to the MusicFest website, with all three of the following component parts:

Violin and Viola Audition Protocol 2026 – Laurier Honour String Orchestra 

Please record a video file (mp4 or another standard file format) and upload it to the MusicFest website, with the following component parts:

Part #1 Scale 

Please play a C Major 3 Octaves Scale. 4 sixteenth notes per bow at 60 metronome marking. 

Part #2 Pieces

Please record any two contrasting pieces you are currently working on.  The total time should be 8 to 12 minutes.  The pieces do not need to be complete.

 

Cello Audition Protocol 2026 – Laurier Honour String Orchestra 

Please record a video file (mp4 or another standard file format) and upload it to the MusicFest website, with the following component parts:

Part #1 Scale

Please play an F Major 3 Octave Scale. 4 sixteenth notes per bow, quarter @ 60 metronome marking.

Part #2 Pieces

Please record any two contrasting pieces you are currently working on.  The total time should be 8 to 12 minutes.  The pieces do not need to be complete.
