NOTE: MusicFest Canada will not normally accept applicants under the age of 15 as of May 1 in the year of the Festival. Parents of applicants younger than 15 as of May 1st may be asked to make special arrangements for accommodations, travel and supervision. HOW TO AUDITION
- Prepare the audition material as outlined below
- Record your audition in a single take, if possible. See directions below.
- Click here to login and upload your VIDEO recording on or before March 1, 2024.
UPLOADING YOUR RECORDING
- Visit the MusicFest Canada website at http://musicfest.ca
- Select “Login” found on the top navigation bar
- Enter your e-mail address and password. If you do not have one, follow the directions to obtain one.
- Complete and/or edit your Registration Form. Make sure you complete all fields
- Click on the “Save” button. You can access this form any time to add or change information.

AUDITION MATERIAL
Please record a video file (mp4 or another standard file format) and upload it to the MusicFest website, with all three of the following component parts:
a) SCALES (4 sixteenth notes per bow, quarter @ 56 metronome)
Violin & Viola: C Major, 3 Octaves
Cello: F Major, 3 Octaves
Double Bass: C Major, 2 Octaves
b) SOLO (Own Choice):
Violin & Viola: play two minutes of a solo or excerpt, preferably a Concerto or any concert type piece
Cello & Double Bass: play two minutes of a solo, Concerto or concert piece
N.B. Piano accompaniment is optional – Grade 8 RCM level recommended. If your selection has a passage where only the accompaniment would play simply count one measure rest and continue.
c) EXCERPTS:
Violin, Viola & Cello: play the bracketed section of all 3 excerpts as indicated
Double Bass: play the bracketed section of the first 2 excerpts as indicated. The third excerpt is optional
